Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Sugar Apple Wedges:

  • 3 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work best)

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or coconut oil

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Caramel Whipped Cream:

  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream, chilled

  • 2 tablespoons caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Apples:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Slice the apples into ½-inch wedges and remove the core. Place them in a large bowl.

2. Coat the Wedges:
Drizzle the melted butter over the apple wedges and toss to coat evenly. In a small separate bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle this mixture over the apples and toss again until all wedges are nicely coated.

3. Air Fry:
Arrange the apple wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren't crowded (you may need to cook in batches). Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the apples are tender and the edges are slightly crisp.

4. Make the Dipping Sauce:
While the apples are cooking, prepare the caramel whipped cream. In a chilled mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream using a hand mixer or a whisk until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce and the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and combined.

5. Serve:
Serve the warm apple wedges immediately with a generous dollop of the caramel whipped cream on the side. For an extra touch of decadence, drizzle with a little more caramel sauce before serving.

Chef's Notes

  • Apple Choice: For a sweeter result, use Honeycrisp or Fuji apples. For a tarter contrast to the sweet sauce, Granny Smith are perfect.

  • Avoid Sogginess: Don't skip preheating the air fryer, as a hot start helps the apples get slightly crispy instead of steaming.

  • Make it Lighter: The apple wedges are also delicious on their own, served with a side of vanilla Greek yogurt.

  • Cream Whipping Tip: For the best results, ensure your heavy cream and mixing bowl are very cold. This will help it whip up quickly and hold its shape.
